A light at the end of the tunnel…
The National Energy Regulator of South Africa (NERSA) recently announced the decision to grant Eskom a tariff increase of 18.65%. The electricity price hike would come into effect on 1 April 2023.
Although much lower than the 32% increase the power utility initially applied for, the lower price hike is of little comfort for already cash-strapped consumers. Businesses and individuals are struggling to make ends meet following a series of interest, fuel and food price hikes in 2022.
To top it all the country has been plunged into stage 6 load-shedding earlier this week until further notice. This follows an unprecedented amount of rolling power cuts in 2022 that had a devastating impact on the economy.
Alternative energy solutions offer a light at the end of a seemingly endless tunnel of electricity tariff increases and power cuts. Many of our community scheme clients are already benefitting from our Efficient Energy Solutions’ cost savings and more reliable electricity supply. Together with Bright Light, we offer a range of solutions that can help you take back the power.
Our Solar Solutions are installed, maintained, insured and monitored with no upfront capital required. The energy tariffs we charge are lower than the current council tariff, helping community schemes cut costs.
By bolting on a Battery Backup and Storage Solution onto your solar installation your community scheme can mitigate the impact of load-shedding and save even more on electricity costs. The energy of the solar installation charges the battery. Community schemes can discharge the battery to use the stored energy when needed. Charging the battery during low electricity demand times and discharging it during high demand times have the additional advantage of cutting electricity costs even further.
To top it all, Efficient Energy Solutions boost property values and are better for the environment than traditional fossil fuel-based power supply. With all these benefits, switching to efficient energy is a “no brainer“.
